One of the most remarkable aspects of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is its proven effectiveness in a very brief period of time. Unlike many other forms of therapy where clients may need to commit to months and even years of treatment to see easing of symptoms and results, Solution Focused Hypnotherapy sessions can help bring about positive change in client’s lives in a relatively short time-frame, from as few as 6-12 sessions on average.

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is also very versatile and its positive, solution-directed approach is powerful in addressing a wide range of mental, emotional and behavioural issues. Hypnotherapy is perhaps best known for its effectiveness in helping treat anxiety and stress, and it is also used to help with issues as wide ranging as stage fright, insomnia, blushing, quitting smoking, anxiety disorders, changing bad habits, passing a driving test, chronic pain, getting rid of phobias and much more.

The first appointment is an initial consultation where we go through everything you would like help with. I also explain all about hypnotherapy and how we can treat the issue, as well as explaining how the brain works. During hypnosis it’s possible to access the subconscious mind, so that changes in thoughts, feelings and behaviours can be achieved at a deeper than conscious level.

A unique feature of solution focused hypnotherapy is that sessions do not require lengthy analysis of the past or any attempt to dig up the root cause of the problem or issue. Instead treatment is focused on your own best hopes, so during the initial consultation I ask each client what they’d like to achieve or change with the help of hypnotherapy. At the end of the consultation we also agree a treatment plan – for quitting smoking that may be as little as one subsequent session, fears and phobias 4 sessions, or for more complex or long standing issues 8-12 sessions are a typical average. Clients are also given access to an exclusive hypnosis relaxation track to take away and start using at home on a nightly basis. The relaxation track helps the treatment process by reinforcing the work we do in all the sessions and also by helping the client to reduce stress and anxiety.

During treatment sessions we use hypnosis which is a state of focused relaxation. I always explain how this is in fact a relaxed state everyone typically experiences several times a day – a long way from any mind-bending tricks or swinging pocket watches! Think of times when you may have been absorbed in a good book or watching a film, playing a favourite game or being out for a walk or driving a familiar route. In Solution Focused Hypnotherapy sessions we are utilising this state of relaxed focus to allow the deeper subconscious mind to focus on positive change, thereby encouraging progress toward the client’s own hopes and goals. The brain has a remarkable ability to form new neurological pathways, assisting the client in reshaping thoughts, feelings and behaviour towards their own preferred outcomes.
